A EUROSIX fibre cement natural grey colour roof of over 3,000m2 was used to complete this new livestock building and milking parlour with separate calf shed building on a long awaited project in the North West of England. 50% of the ridge capping was specified as an open protected ridge system and spaced roof sheeting was also used for this section of the building. With the ventilation system specified for only half of the building, a traditional closed sheet construction with crank ridge capping was used for the remainder.
GRP translucent rooflights were incorporated alongside the fibre cement roof sheets to provide natural light.
A separate building to be used for calf housing was specified as an open protected ridge with spaced (trimmed) roof sheets and GRP rooflights.
The requirements for maximum ventilation to create a comfortable environment for all livestock was a major priority and has been provided effectively and efficiently by the range of products supplied by Briarwood of Highbridge, Somerset.
