On February the 10th, we were delighted to play host to our local MP, James Heappey, who has been visiting local businesses within his constituency. Both James and his assistant Max spent Friday morning with us, and were looked after by our general manager, Oly Janes.
James Heappey was elected as the Member of Parliament for the Wells Constituency in May 2015.
James takes pride in his role, and as he states on his website,
“ He cares deeply for our local area and really understands the issues and pressures that our communities face. He thinks hard about what our area needs and wants to use his time in Parliament to deliver the improvements we need to secure a strong and prosperous future for our part of Somerset.”
With such a strong ethos and hopes for the local are we were naturally delighted to share what we do, and offer our view of rural Somerset and our links to agriculture and farming.
We took our guests on a tour of our facilities, in order that they might gain an insight into what we do here. As you can see from the pictures, we were able to show them all of our site, and he was delighted by our set up and offered his support to us, which was wonderful.
As it transpires, we’ve been trying to install a solar PV array for our building, but we’ve have been blocked from doing so, as we have been informed it’s oversubscribed for the area, which is something we feel does not fit the ethos of renewable energy and something that disappointed us greatly. However, we’re delighted to report that James has agreed to back this decision and bring forward the issue for us, so fingers crossed! James was a wonderful man, who seemed genuinely enthusiastic about what we do and what he could do to support it.
We would like to thank James and his assistant Max for taking the time to come and visit him. We look forward to forgoing a strong and lasting working relationship with him over the coming years.
